    It actually depends …
    It actually depends on the size of the lure, but Dewalt makes extra long bits that work for most of the lures. If I’m making the really big guys that I can’t drill through (or really small guys that can’t handle a drill), I’ll actually use another through wire approach where you cut a slot in the belly, push the wire into the slot, and then fill in the slot with a sliver of glued wood. I’ll post another video shortly to show that approach.

    Absolutely, a wire leader would work fine, but you will notice that it will be more important to get the hook loops tight againts the lure. If you’re criming the loops on the leader, you’ll also want to bury the crimps inside the lure itself and then use the expoxy to seal them in. If the crimps are exposed outside the lure, the action of the fish can actually weaken the crimp.

    Could you used a wire leader as the through-wire? If you used 4-7 inch leaders, you could potentially have extreme quality lure for big fish
